Folk At Five this evening featured two seasonal singles by two very different singer-songwriters: Ange Hardy and James J Turner.
Powerful yet evocative vocals and guitar combine with insightful wrting in James J Turner's 'This Christmas' folk-rock cracker, re-released now, four years after its debut and marking the end of the year in which his well-received album 'Spirit, Soul & a Handful of Mud' was released.
Ange Hardy makes a plea for peace with a delightful a capella rendition of her new work 'The Quantock Carol'. Her musicianship is also admirably displayed in a second song on the CD, 'Mary's Robin', based on a Gaelic legend set in Bethlehem.
