In March 2015, Pioneer sold its DJ equipment business division to KKR, which resulted in the establishment of Pioneer DJ as a separate entity.
Pioneer DJ Corporation changed its company name to AlphaTheta Corporation from January 1, 2020. Their brands and brand names, including Pioneer DJ, were not affected by this change until January 2024, when it was announced that new products would be released under the AlphaTheta brand.
At the time of writing in January 2024, AlphaTheta is displaying five company logos in addition to its own, those of Pioneer DJ, Rekordbox. Toraiz, Kuvo and Pioneer. It is notable that the logo for Pioneer DJ uses exactly the same font as the logo for Pioneer.
